The pretty glow of stuff burning
Nov. 4th, 2012 08:17 amWe went to a bonfire thing last night with assorted family. I thought I had dressed us all quite warmly but I realize now that we needed more layers of socks on. (obviously this is an excuse to buy cute boot liners) Frozen toes are not the way to go. The cocoa was poorly made, we couldn't stand too close to the fire (health and safety as the British love to say with an irritated tone. I have to tell you British people, the reason you have health & safety is because you have enough people in your population who are dumb, that they wreck it for the rest of you. Please see some of the rules in the US. Lewis Black talked about this in regards to some rules in the bible. You have to make these rules official because you always have some yahoos who don't realize some things are not a good idea. It's kind of like how we didn't have a law on the books in the state of Washington about not fucking animals until that one guy who did that one thing with the horse and died. You don't always think you have to tell some people, "don't have sex with animals. Don't play in a large bonfire." But you do. You really do. I digress.) and it was very muddy. But it was still fun. Nothing like watching a large pile of brush and what appeared to be a house catch on fire. I am a little disappointed that there wasn't a wickerman but I am sure it is very difficult to find a virgin in North Devon these days. Better luck next year eh?
The fireworks were pretty delightful. Kabooms all around. It was deemed that the ones that appear like sprinkles were the best. After that we went home as we lost feeling in our feet and the children were tired and a little miserable. I think there is loose talk of doing a bonfire at my inlaws next year. That way one can drink, get right up next to the fire, and then just trample through the field and pass out at the house. As a pagan would properly do.
Today it will be more family stuff with cousins. Tomorrow it is back to the reality. School runs, and all of that.
