twist me up like a pretzel if you love me.
Feb. 6th, 2014 11:34 pmRight, so physical therapy. A lovely fit man who plays football in his spare-time felt me up in a bunch of good and useful ways. He says I will heal quick, and next time we will work on teaching me how to bend again. Isn't that nice.
He had me do a bunch of things to check out how I move, and like all physical therapists I have ever encountered he commented on my range of motion, and that I still stand with my knees hyper-extended a million years after my time spent training to be a ballet dancer. (This is why my children like it when I straighten my legs out and pretend I am a slide. They can slide down without any bumps. They complained about their Dad not being able to do this.) Yeah my lower back/hips hurt like a mo-fo, but dang can I bend myself into fantastic positions.
He did a deep tissue massage and good lord he got right into the pain. Muscles woke up again and cried. It took a lot of work to get me to relax. Lots of breathing, and him commenting on how dang tight everything was. We discussed sports, the weather, and Cornwall as he went to town on my lower back and hips. The thing is, after awhile it did help and it was the first time in a month that many parts were genuinely relaxed. If it wasn't for the fact that I am a cheerfully married lady, I would have thrown him down and made out with him for his ability with his hands. Then we worked on some assorted exercises that I get to do everyday. They are pretty simple. He says I can continue to do a jogging/walking combination as I heal. Huzzah. I get to see him in a couple of weeks to see how the progress is going. Thank you nice man.
In another news, we got the information on the house sale and how it is going. Escrow and other fancy terms. This meant we had to get an appointment at the US embassy in London to have things notarized. It has to be done before the 26th (the closing date) and so that threw us into a bit of a rush. There were a couple of days available at the embassy, and because we have to leave the kids behind, I didn't want to do it when my Mother in law had my nieces and nephew, as my bother and sister in law are finally going on their honeymoon after all these years. (they are off to warmer climes for 10 days, after half-term.) I checked in with my mother and sister in law, and they could watch the kids (it is during half-term) and so they will be entertained, we got appointments made, and a hotel and trains booked. Really what this means (besides carrying a load of paperwork around, and getting it sorted) is that Mr. Jenner and I get a couple of days together being grown-ups. We are excited. We'll try and see a show, eat good food, see civilization, and fed-ex a load of paperwork back to the states. And bring everyone some sweets and treats. It is kind of a rush trip but also a nice surprise.
Tonight's excitement: Mr. Jenner found a 150w bulb somewhere and put it in a light fixture in the dining room, and holy God, it improved things. It felt like Spring had arrived. CFL bulbs are total bullshit. I really dislike them. Sure they might last awhile but the damn things begin to dim out after awhile and you feel as if you are surrounded by darkness all the effin' time. I may go in search of better lights. I want bright bright lights so cheer up the place until the sun comes to life again.
And I made a serious dent in the unpacking process today. I may be able to take some pictures of the downstairs area this weekend to show to friends and family.
