First off, thank you to everyone for your kind words and thoughts regarding Mr. Jenner the incredible fainting husband. He is sort of better. In that like any case of the flu it has to run its course. He is probably better today than he was yesterday. I of course decided that since it is fun to share things as a couple, came down with a nasty cold on Boxing Day. Well a cold that was actually flu. It came on fast. I had gone over to my inlaws for tea on Boxing Day, and I said, "hey sorry I have a cold" so I was polite and kept a fair distance from my baby nephew. (which sucks, but I am not going to make an infant sick.) I was just soooooooooo tired and out of it and didn't want to be around anyone. By that evening I wanted to die. It all came on good and strong. The chills, the aches and pains, that feeling where your clothes touching your skin totally freaking hurts. I started off yesterday by being sick, and then going back to bed. In fact I have spent a lot of time in bed. And napping. I don't nap. I am not a napping person. So you know things are serious when I am napping. Napping, and living in my pajamas and dressing gown. I was a sight. We have gone through a lot of hankies. You know, it was rather thought of Mr. Jenner's Nanny D to give him a new set of hankies for Christmas. Mr. Jenner sounded horrible yesterday. All raspy and wheezy. I ended up offering him my inhaler, which helped him enormously. We have been imbibing a lot of lemon and honey toddies. Miss Biscuit has a bad cold too. Senor Onion seems all right. Somehow. It is just a tragic sight all around for the Jenners.
BUT today was a bit better. I had a good long nap. I sort of got dressed. (so what if it was leggings, and an oversized sweater. It was a step up, and it didn't hurt.) We watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark" as a family. All cuddled on the sofa. We had pizza for dinner. I had a really good hot shower which made me feel better.
I am now just down to the nasty head/chest cold.
I did not anticipate spending my Christmas holiday like this. I mentioned to my Mother how I had worked so hard to avoid getting sick, and that I had been caring for sick people for awhile, and doing all this stuff to get Christmas ready, and doing more running to stay healthy and it still got me in the end. She said her Mother (who did not get sick) would end up sick on Christmas Day or Boxing Day because of the same thing. The immune system finally gives up. "you are on your own lady. Fuck it."
