Have I mentioned recently how much I love the Internationale?
My mother taught me to sing it at a very tender age and because I was a bit mush-mouthed I always sung the one line, "tis the final conflict" as "tis the final cornflake"
precious...I know.
Yes yes yes yes I know that communism is a doomed ideology, but you have to give props for their rousing and emotional anthem.
My heart just swells with enthusiasm whenever I hear the song.
Especially when sung by the Red Army Radio Chorus.

I suspect my mother wishes she could have been part of the revolution...you know the glamorous aspect as portrayed in the film Reds
I can understand that.
Plus my mother's sense of melancholy would fit in with that bunch.
*laughs*
My family is just too kooky.

Another added bit of humour in this anecdote is the fact that I didn't learn the American National Anthen until I was nearly ten years old.
But at age three I could sing the Internationale with the fervor of Lenin.

The ideals of communism are just that, ideals. In a perfect world with perfect people it would work and would be wonderful. However, with imperfect people it doesn't work at all.

Also, the USSR wasn't actually communist at all, it was a dictatorship based upon terror and had little to do with Marx's ideals.

I am well aware of that fact. My mother always pointed out, any time humans are involved most isms will fail.

Originally Russia wanted to prescribe to the ideals, but alas power corrupts so it changed.

But my point is, the song rocks.
