Did the state of California learn anything from letting actors run for public office?

There is a movie I like called 1941 it isn't a great film, but it has a great line, "this isn't the state of California, this is the state of insanity."

You know...I think the heat affects the intellect of many.
Or there are just too many stupid people in one place. They need to be spread out. Maybe an exchange program. Send some of the stupidity to North Dakota.

Yeah, but there is an earnest sense of kindness in North Dakota. I have some relatives from there and they are fairly smart folk. They are simple farmers who do good things like bring hot dishes to people in need and take care of eachother when the town floods.

California:they air high speed chases all damn day long and they hold benefits for the slightly annoyed, and people drive around and say things like, "carrots are so magical"

you decide. heh

I think I have something against LA more then anything else.

North Dakota is dull dull place, but come on, I would take a dull place over insanity.

You mean you're not going with the 'liberal' media on the fact that Ronald Reagan was the greatest president ever? I thought he was up there with Richard Nixon, or wait... Lincoln and Washington, yeah!

As for the heat affecting people's intellect. Have you considered butter as an alternative type of medicine? I've heard it's good for some of the face.

Ronald Reagan was probably one of the worsts things to happen to this country. He ruined the economy, fucked over many innocent people and did things that no one ought to do to human beings.

butter? have you been watching old episodes of Seinfeld? heh

I can't tell if you're deliberately choosing to respond as if I'm serious, or just completely unaware...

Well, I am always a bit careful with some people, because I do know people who truly believe he is one of the greatest presidents. So I am cautious. *laughs*
I think of a line that Garrison Keilor once said about Reagan, "The president who never gave any bad news"

Unfortunately I was too young to really understand Reagan's shenanigans, although by the look and sound of it all, the same people who were behind Pappa Bush and Reagan during that era are now behind the scenes (Shadow Government) in our current administration, you know the one!

I understood it at a fairly early age that Reagan wasn't good (my parents were pinko democrats who made it clear that this man shouldn't be trusted)

I think you are quite right. Which is a scary thought.

There was a family we knew when I was growing up, they were hard core old time liberals as well. One of their kids became scared of a closet in their house and the parents couldn't figure out why. They finally asked him, "what do you think is in the closet?"
He answered, "republicans"

*laughs*

Well at least Arnie probably has more brain cells than Ronnie Ray-Gun ever had. That and he's also an A-movie actor rather than a B-movie one.

< cynic mode>
Seeing as politicians these days are just acting anyway, I don't see how Arnie can be much worse, other than he can't really act.

I just worry he may do some foolish things.
There are a number of people in the state of California who are illegal immigrants and those are people who are here to work, attempt to make a life for themselves but they often can't go through the proper channels to come to this country because the INS is so fucked up.

If you are from a "favorable" country they will let a ton of people in (i.e. a European country with money) but if you are from an "unfavorable" country, they hardly let anyone in.
So I wonder if Ahnold who isn't a native himself, will remember why he came here and not be a total asshole and tighten up a bunch of laws prosecuting people who just want to make a better life for themselves like he did. I suspect he will forget.

He should also remember these are the people willing to do the shit jobs no one else will do.

It is a real sad state of affairs.

Exactly. You hit it right on the nose.

Where else are the rich people of California going to get someone to clean their toilets, care for their children, landscape their yards and pick their fruit?

hehe I think it's funny who else is running. You could create a Jerry Springer show out of it (I seem to think about that show a lot). A'nold running against Hustler magazine's Editor and a midget.

I don't think he has too much competition there..

There is nothing better than Dan Akroyd proclaiming:

"AHHHHHHHHH HAAA! I'm a BUG!!!" With nylons over his head and oranges where his eyes should be.

Raoul:I'd like to thank all the GI's for making this such a memorable evening. Maybe next time we can get some Negroes in here and start a race riot.

Beautiful line!
That is it, I need to rush out and buy my own copy.
