In life there are many things I am absolutely crazy about.

Like that man on the right

and incredible films like this one

I also have a weakness for manolo blahnik shoes but then who doesn't?

This is one of my favorite books in the entire world.

and as for food... a good creme brulee is also nice to lust after. Trust me.

So in my little wanderings of things I adore I began to look at jewelry.
I am a little spoiled in that area. My grandmother had great jewelry, My mother has fantastic jewelry and I have some fairly nice stuff as well.
I do like a little costume jewelry, but gosh darn...a nice stone in a beautiful setting is nothing to cough lightly at.

I am not keen on a lot of modern pieces. They seem cold and lacking personality.
So my heart is often lost to estate jewelry.

So let me share with the great world, some pretty things I found.

I saw this and immediately thought of my Grandmother. Her name was Ruby, and somehow I think these rubies would have suited her.

I then saw a very very nice piece of jewelry. My mother's birthstone is sapphire and I saw the ring to end all rings in terms of size. Boy what a rock!

this one kinda wowed me.

Geez, I am so easy.

To end the evening let's look at some more food.
Nothing finer then some rich coffee and sacher torte

oooohhhhhhhhh

That last ring.. Wowed me too.

The sacher torte looked pretty Wow too.

I'm having a party Saturday night. Food includes hummus, tabouli, pasta salad .... what easy simple make-ahead thing should I do for dessert? Maybe your brownie recipe... ?

Do the brownie thing...maybe add something to it.
cherries?

I saw a recipe for blackbottom brownies somewhere. I should look for it.

I was thinking rum and raisin would be good in those delicious brownies... Throw a little vanilla ice cream on top and you have DECADENCE!

And I am all about the decadence. Yeah baby. You wanna come?

That would work rather well.
I am hesitant to suggest rum and raisin to many, because quite a foew people don't care for it.

Alas...I am working and then I have another party to possibly go to.
Otherwise...I would fly down to the crazy state for brownies.

Really? I don't think of rum and raisin to be something a lot of people don't like.

In fact I don't know anyone who doesn't like it.

Weirdos.

God I'm hungry.

I think for some (the common american palate) it is a bit rich. But then there are some who think that milk chocolate is pretty gosh darned wild.

I am fond of it myself, but I don't want a large helping, I would rather enjoy a small portion, but maybe that is the problem right there.
Because of the American enjoyment of large portions, rum raisin is too much. After all one shouldn't pile it on like mashed potatoes and gravy.

Eat

I haven't had a really good creme brulee in ages. /cue sad face making

I agree with you on the jewelry. I've honestly never been much of a fan to begin with, but I can appreciate a beautiful antique piece that someone took a lot of time and care to design.

Strangely I found some pretty good creme brulee at the more formal Ivars restaurant downtown on the waterfront.
I was impressed, plus the server was a riot.

There is something about great craftsmenship.

That would probably be one of the last places I'd think to look for creme brulee, but now it seems I'll have to pay them a visit.

My favorite server experience most recently was at 13 Coins with Joe and Kylene. Our waiter could've taken his act on the road, his humor knew no boundaries.

I know, one doesn't think custard desserts when they think of Ivar's.
I went there a few months back with my mother and brother and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't wildly amazing, but it was damn good.

Goodness I haven't been to the 13 Coins in so long. I think Andrew and I need to go there.
I am craving baked brie and raspberry puree...with a couple of cocktails.

well i have never had creme brulee.
and i also think the shoes look uncomfortable.
and i don't think i share the same taste in rings as you do. i don't think i have worn pink visibly (i DO have a pink bra and panties now though) since i was 15.
but i do think you two make a cute couple!!!

1.You should try creme brulee. Custardy goodness.
2. They are very comfortable. They are hand-made and very very well-made so they aren't bad to wear.
3. I tend to lean towards yellow gold and estate jewelry. I find white gold too cold looking.
4.Pink is lovely. I always say, "think pink" it makes the skin tone look warmer.
5.thank you. hehe we are dorks.

You're right. That's all anyone needs in this world. Andrew, Some Like It Hot, Manolo Blahnik shoes, I Capture the Castle, creme brulee, rubies, sapphires, and antique rings. That's all anyone needs. Oh, sometimes I do a little bit, but not today. I'm making fun of Steve Martin, who said:

"And I don't need any of this! I don't need this stuff, (he pushes all of the letters off the desk), and I don't need you. I don't need anything except this (he picks up an ashtray) and that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game (picks it up), the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - (sees something) I need this! The paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. Well what are you looking at? What do you think I am, some kind of a jerk or something? And this! And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair. And I don't need one other thing except my dog. (Shithead, the dog, growls) Well I don't need my dog."
