We saw Love Actually. It was so deliciously Richard Curtisy that I nearly fainted with joy.
Oh Andrew and I just loved the movie to pieces.
British people, love, funny stuff, and more love.
*hops around the apartment all goofy-like*

Even you cynical bastards ought to see this movie. It might calm all of you down a bit.

The man loved my beef burgundy. It was meatylicious.

We also had a hilarious experience on the bus, where we watched a couple kinda play out the relationship between Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain.
A small portion of conversation.
"fuck you and your fucking courtney-like fucking cunt fucking self. fuck you you fucking piece of fucking paper, why don't you fucking break my fucking jaw so I will shut the fuck up. fucking fuck you, I only fucked you because you fucking are a fucking whore. I only fucking came, because I was fucking thinking about someone else. fuck you."

Yeah, touch that Laurence Olivier.

*giggles and then thinks about how much she loved the movie*

If nothing else, drop into [livejournal.com profile] transit_stories for a moment to relay that exchange. They need a good Kurt/Courtney story in there. Give 'em hell.

I am so envious of you having seen this movie.

It has all of these pretty folk who have talent and the movie has no definite plot, it is more like a series of vignettes. But somehow it is perfect.

It is a Christmas card.

You will love this. We saw the movie for free.
They are always handing out free movie pass things to us at work.
If you are willing to wait in line for an hour and possibly miss the chance to see the film, because it filled up. You can see a ton of neat movies for free and before they come out.

I am so glad you liked it! I think I will, too.

I think everyone will like it, as long as they aren't some cynical bastard who doesn't like to have a good time.

The thing about this couple on the bus is that the guy kept up this tirade for about half an hour. It was impressive that the guy could keep speaking for that long without repeating himself. The girl was quiet at first but seemed to be in tears by the end. I just told myself that they were practicing lines for a play.

She seemed kind of strung out on some sort of controlled substance.
She also seemed like the sort of person who thrives on that kind of drama.

He just seemed stupid.

It's on The List of movies to see once Heather can unbury herself from work. I was flicking through trailers on quicktime.com and found it. How could I not want to see a movie with that cast. But I was hesitent that it might look really good, then suck. But if you like it, I've hope again! Yay!

It is Richard Freaking Curtis.
He did Four Weddings and Funeral. Thus the humour is perfect.
I think you will dig it.
It has sweetness, sarcasm, weepiness, and people making asses of themselves.
Something I am familiar with.

People making asses of themselves... but... that's /me/! By golly I'm there! ;)

Damn... I still need to see Lost in Translation, Pieces of April, Dirty Pretty Things and Bubba Ho-Tep... A summer of little to watch and now, wham, it falls from the sky.

I'll give a review once i see it. Which reminds me, I don't think I really said anything about how wonderful Whale Rider was... I should do that in a post this weekend... Suffice it to say, if you haven't seen Whale Rider, and it's still playing near you (near being a term meaning ~100 mile radius), I highly recommend running from your computer right now and watching it. Leave your shoes, just run.

They make asses of themselves in a good-natured "watch me fall down the stairs" sort of way.

You need to see a lot of movies my friend.
A LOT!

I shall see that soon.
I have heard a million good things.

but I need my shoes, so I can trip in them

You are so Mary Tyler Moore, but in a good way...

And yes, I know, a million movie to watch still... alas... I'll get around to it somehow. But it sort of loses the fun if I can't share them with Heather. Though I know I'm going to have to watch Dirty Pretty Things alone, and Bubba Ho-Tep is going to be watched with a friend...

You'll love Whale Rider. It's one of a handful of movies that actually was better than the book. I know, hard to believe, a book being the lesser, but it's true. The movie delved into the emotional truth more than the book did, which took easier routes in some scenes. The Award Ceremony scene comes to mind...

I even throw parties where strange things occur.

Bubba Ho-Tep I suspect is a film I will have to see with someone else. I don't think Andrew would get it.

I'd say come on down and join me and a few others when Bubba Ho-tep came out, but the commute is a bitch. As for Andrew, give him a try with the movie. Worse comes to worse, you turn to him after he asks the sixth questions and say, "Good thing you shag like a lightning rod, my British math lust monkey."

Men love to be called British Math Lust Monkies...

the commute is a minor detail.

*laughs*
I shall have to call him my "british math lust monkey." He might like it.
