[Poll #198921]

Speaking of Halloween costumes and such. I like to read a daily comic called Frazz. Every year a character called Caulfield comes up with these brilliant literary costumes (I have done a few myself, but his are genius)
Check this weeks string of strips out.

Well, until about 10 years ago, halloween wasn't really a big thing in Britain. Well, you had Blue Peter making pumpkin faces etc. but that was about it.

Then those pesky 'merkins foisted their commercial, sticky sweet ideas on us and corrupted our youth.. Now you just have marauding teenagers who don't bother to dress up demanding confectionary with manaces. Somehow, it seems that it's not fully been translated over here. :-)

I bet soon we'll be having Thanksgiving given to us, where we thank the Lord for allowing us to move some of our population over "The Pond." (Just kidding! ;-))

Seriously, though. It has got to the point over here where Police forces, sorry, services, are asking that people don't go trick or treating as they're having problems with vandalism and general hooliganism disguised as trick or treating. In Somerset they even had a group of officers going around with cleaning matterials so as to wash off any thrown eggs before they hardened and caused perminent damage. And, as I meantioned above, it's generally not little kids who are having a fun time dressing up, going out with their parents and being cute, it's more groups of late teenagers who haven't made any effort at all demanding gifts with the real threat of damage.

You can never talk smack about thanksgiving.
It is actually a pretty hip holiday as they go, because it isn't religious, but speaks of goodwill in terms of getting together with people you like (hopefully ones family) and eating and just being together for the hell of it.
heheh.
But it would be hilarious if that holiday was somehow transplanted there.

As for halloween...tsk, it is a bit of a crazy day. It isn't truly a bad thing except when people get too into it and become bastards.

a plain no. 2 pencil is probably the saddest thing I have ever heard of.
You win the prize.

Did you have a nice halloween?
