Andrew and I saw "Love Actually" again.
We came out grinning ear to ear...again!

Oh watching this movie is like drinking several cups of hot chocolate. (with lots of whipped cream)

It is not the greatest movie ever made, but it is definitely a sentimental bit of fun. Imagine a christmas card filled with chocolate and attractive people. That is that particular movie.

Amen.

We saw it last night, and enjoyed it very much. I was in the mood for a sentimental bit of fun, not to mention hot chocolate.

We saw it last night too, and greatly enjoyed it. Dopey but schmoopy and entertaining. *sigh* Colin Firth is simply dreamy. And afterward we went out for the best hot chocolate ever. Dear lord it was like rich liquid sex. *sigh*

*sigh* If only it were as simple as that ... I have to plan my kidnappings weeks in advance for when the babysitter is available.

Colin Firth is sooooooooooo dreamy. I said that the other night to Andrew when Colin Firth was on the daily show.
Have you ever noticed how lovely Mr. Firth's smile is?

Going to see it sometime soon. It finally came out here.

And as for the card, is the chocolate sculpted like naked midgets?

You just might like it.
It has the right touch of silliness and gooey loveness.

The card has chocolate sculpted naked hot british actors.

I really, seriously wish I had gone to see that today.

Instead I saw the new Matrix movie. It amazed even me. I expected crap. They went even lower than my expectations. I should have walked to the ticket counter and took a crap on it after I left the theater. That was 9 hours ago. I'm still queasy.

Should have seen Love Actually.... Damnit.

On the plus side, I did see Punch Drunk Love tonight. I loved it.

I haven't seen the new Matrix film yet.
Of course I haven't seen the second one either.
At some point I need to it over with.
Kind of like watching Titanic. You see it so you can hate it with authority.

Punch Drunk Love kinda shows Adam Sandler with a little talent.

*twitches* I still have nightmares of the night I saw Titanic. Amazingly, the new Matrix will now replace that nightmare since it was that much worse...

And yeah, Adam Sandler did show a degree of talent in that one. Spooky really. I did enjoy it a good deal. Then again, after the new Matrix, I would have enjoyed watching a Lifetime movie.

I just don't believe in the mystique and the glamour of the Matrix. The first one was interesting because of the technology. But other then that it didn't hold me.

I think Adam Sandler could do great things. He just needs to be tightly controlled....much like a small dog that pees everywhere.

I enjoyed the whole philosophical idea, though, let's be honest, it is an old concept, one can really go back to Descartes really, the whole Evil Demon concept, or, as a permutation, Plato's and the Parable of the Cave (granted a much more basic version, and not an exact analogy, but some concepts hold). I really wasn't dazzled with the whole mystique. I still don't even have the movie on DVD or VHS - far too many better movies to get still - Hell, Auntie Mame comes to mind (really been wanting to watch that again these last few weeks for some reason - that and the original Ghost and Mrs. Muir). I watched the others to see where they led. The second was blah, with a few nice elements. The last just sucked ugly anal leakage.

*laughs* I like that image, Adam Sandler as a small, urinating poodle. I like his movies for what they are (well, most of them - anything from Big Daddy and earlier) - cheap low brow escapism. If I want that, I know I can find his stuff. Or Mel Brooks. Higher up would be Monty Python and Fish Called Wanda. Higher, Ishtar - because someone believed it would be a good movie. That idea makes me laugh.

I was reading Auntie Mame again. I forgot how much I liked that book. I first read it when I was eight. It formed my personality in such a peculiar way.

The Matrix is just another one of those things that people read too deeply into. (kind of like Star Wars)
Definitely something for those with too much times on their hands.

I love love Mel Brooks. I like his approach to comedy. A little vulgar, a little silly, and referential.

From: [identity profile] kitaryufinn.livejournal.com
I sort of see Mel Brooks' approach as, who cares, funny is funny, even if it's a fart joke (or a whole ten minute scene of it...).

I haven't had the pleasure of reading Auntie Mame. I really need to read that book. It's been on my list for ages. Frankly, I'm just loking forward to Christmas and a couple of weeks of free time to A, spend some time with my wife for once, B, not do anything, C, catch up on reading, and D, not do anything some more.

The book is quite wicked and delicious. Auntie Mame is clever and smart and a little devious but in a kind-hearted flighty sort of way.

Ah sweet Christmas...books to read and excuse to use the word Wassail in a sentence.

Can't say I've been around many people that have said that around the holidays. Mostly it's an uncle slipping little Timmy an extra shot of bourbon to take the spring out of his step before 3PM, right after Grandma removes her teeth to do a puppet show after she gets doped up on turpentine. Ahh, trailer park Christmas... how delightful. Nothing says a holiday like a racoon dinner. cooked by a woman who's teeth are permanently at a 40 degree angle from opening beer bottles.

Happy little family I see.

You should be adopted by my family.
We are nice to eachother don't give anyone a hard time about their lack of ambition and just eat a lot of food and give people fun presents.
Christmas afternoon we will go and see a movie because we may want to hang out with eachother....but we don't feel like talking.
Good way to chill without the conversation.
