and it rains...
Nov. 16th, 2003 12:08 pmI acquired eight hours of sleep last night and I feel much more coherent.
Friday night the lovely Mr. Jenner took me to the Mighty Wind Concert. I got to see
thiscantbesoy as I mentioned and then we went into the newly renovated McCaw Hall (which is quite lovely) and had ourselves a big ol' time. I looked up to the Mezzanine and noticed there were people with signs like they were at a rock concert. I have expected to see something along lines of a "I Heart John Michael Higgins" ala "I heart Lance Bass". Essentially people were getting wild and crazy like it was some sort of Rock concert...only it was pseudo folk music and people sat (because we are a lazy bunch) but people hooted, hollered, whooped it up hard-core because let's face it you would too if you got to see a bunch of respected actors improvise at being folk groups.
First we were graced with the presence of the emcee Johnathan Steinbloom (Bob Balaban) with his piece of paper and general nervous behavior. Then we got to see the Main Street Singers. Oh my gosh I loved loved them. So perky...and peculiar.
Then in between the setup for The Folks-men, the emcee brought out one of the producers! Amber Cole (Jennifer Coolidge) Oh my gosh what a..."vision" in her pink outfit. She was nearly falling out of the thing. People stood up when she made her entrance. How could you not?
Now...the question people wondered before the concert...would the third member of The Folks-men that was played by Harry Shearer come out in a dress since he had taken to cross-dressing at the end of the film?
Oh he satisfied us. He sported a lovely denim skirt and jacket a long with a red top....and a blond wig.
Something so satisfying about someone who can wear a skirt and possess a deep bass voice.
Finally...Mitch and Mickey. I think half the people there showed up for them.
Would they kiss? Oh they did they did! It was perfect.
There were a lot of standing ovations and everyone was so eager and excited and then the finale when everyone came out to sing the theme, the whole audience joined it and goodness it was the best fun on a friday night involving pseudo-folk music and movie geeks.
*hops around the room for awhile*
....
I woke up this morning and it was raining.
It has not stopped at all.
Gosh...there went my plan to do some late Autumn tanning.
...
Next time I will talk about Thanksgiving and yams. I will share my distaste for adding marshmallows to such dishes.
