To set aside the smart-ass commentary.
Nov. 17th, 2003 09:51 pmI have an icon that
heatherfeathyr liked so I thought I would show her some of the artist's work. Alphonse Mucha did some really interesting things at the turn of the twentieth century much of which was used for magazine illustrations and advertisements.
You can see similiar influence in Gibson Girl pieces as well.

I am quite fond of this piece.

This makes me think of Isadora Duncan. All the swirly windy movement.

This particular one has a slightly empire-esque inspiration that makes me think of Natasha in "War and Peace".
As for the Gibson Girl illustrations

You can see the broad Edwardian influence.
Fun stuff, isn't it?
