This chaps my hide.
Can you believe it!?!?! The guy was just searching for a way to go to war.
I find it interesting. Everyone remembers he claimed in a speech when campaigning for President in 2000 that he was against "nation-building" yet if you looked at more of the speech you wouldn't be too surprised by our current situation.

"I don't think that our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building. I think that our troops ought to be used to fight and win wars. I think our troops ought to be used to help overthrow a dictator... when it's in our best interests."

I am most curious as to what these "best interests" are since I don't have any oil-holdings personally in the Middle East.

As to those who might cite certain Democratic leaders who put in troops in other countries wars and their efforts at nation building (Kennedy in Vietnam, Clinton in the Balkans) I think one should be aware of the fact that even before Kennedy sent troops it was the Eisenhower admin. that was giving support and weapons in Vietnam. Not just to the French but to the other side.

Mr. Jimmy Carter may have had a lousy unemployment situation but he never ever lied to the American people.

And you want to talk about fucking over the economy and the people who make it Mr. Herbert Hoover wouldn't give the bonus to the people who served in World War One early. They were entitled to a bonus(passed in 1924) in 1945 and they needed it in 1932 because of what the depression had done to everyone. What really sparked the interest in gaining their bonus was the passage of the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act. Which was a nasty contributer to the Great Depression. Essentially the act put increases on farm products and gave a bonus to industries (giving more money to the already rich) and because of the Act it angered foreign countries who retaliated with higher tariffs, causing US Trade to decline and to push the US further into economic decline. So the Vets marched demanding what was theirs. Do you know how that president responded? He sent in the Military against unarmed people. The Military and the President was so frightened by the masses exercising their constitutional rights and asking for what was truly theirs that they felt they had to harm hundreds of people.

Yeah...how is that Republicanism for you.

My hide is so chapped, I couldn't formulate a coherent post.

But I heart you madly, because you mentioned Hawley-Smoot.

well, these are just allegations. at least the part about the war. in fact, i think this comment was quite interesting.

A senior administration official, who asked not to be named, expressed bewilderment at O'Neill's comments on the alleged war plans.

"The treasury secretary is not in the position to have access to that kind of information, where he can make observations of that nature," the official said. "This is a head-scratcher." </>

The thing is with that particular admin. they are very very....clannish so everyone seems to know everything about eachother's business and what is really going on. Until they want to rid themselves of you.
Plain and simple.

well, to add to it. i watched tom brokaw on the daily show. according to him republicans typically run a tighter, more business like administration than democrats. they seem to run the white house more like a business. he wasn't making a judgement with this (obviously). in fact, he seemed to like democrat control more as it was easier to get information.

It is one weird admin. They don't socialize with anyone outside the clan which used to be a Washington tradition. They go to bed early and pray for Armageddon.
They don't know how to make deals with people or compromise. They just stay in their hovel and leak information when they feel like it.
buncha bastards.

exactly, because it is newsworthy. there have been one, maybe 2 big leaks out of this administration and the press is really latching onto it. leaks out of the clinton administration were a constant event, so not quite as newsworthy.

Oh I think everyone needs 40 acres and a mule at this point considering how mixed everyone is.
The country is like a big old casserole.

We need more casserole children.
It hasn't hurt me to be one.

I think that casserole children tend to be prettier.
Some of the most gorgeous people I have ever seen were mixed race.
