After the debates on Fox, they talked about mannerisms and body posture in past debates.

They mostly said that Al Gore lost because of his expression during his opponents talking sessions.

I think Bush's take the cake!

Yeah. He was visibly troubled and clearly unprepared for even the brief period I saw. By the end, I'm sure frustration was in there too. I couldn't tell due to bad reception, but I think I could almost see his face light up red every time Kerry spoke and jabbed him fairly about the mistakes Bush has made that are undeniable. There was a certain cramping and tightening in bush that just didn't go well for him. You know that all he's doing for the next week though, is spending time in a little room with that whole tape, and a bunch of puppeteers- analyzing what he won't do on the next debate. He may still spew shit, but he'll look good doing it from here on out.

I didn't think he expected to have tough questions like that.

I think the reason I don't care for debates or presidential "elect me!" speeches is because they are all simply loaded with shit. Clinton taught me that. He went Hollywood during his election attempt and the people swallowed it like a porno money shot. I was so afraid for this nation when Clinton ran I actually registered to vote for Bush Sr. (knowing he wouldn't win) just to vote against Clinton and Gore's wife. I now realize that Clinton was good for us, but even the debates last night were an example of what I hate. Bush never really *said* anything. It's all very carefully memorized phrases and answers that by marketing tactic (repeat 3 times and people remember and believe it) or what the people *want* to hear. Same for Kerry. I saw one point at the end which looked like a spontaneous brilliant save where he was rambling about his do-gooderness and seemed to suddenly realize he was just cranking out buzzwords and hesitated for the briefest moment and looked deer in the headlights. He followed with something about freedom and puppies and rainbows and even mildly looked pleased with himself that he didn't just drool like Bush did, but for the record, he didn't say anything with substance or truth or usefullness, either.

I think [livejournal.com profile] superfledermaus said it best as he offered the response Kerry should have given to the question of "why do you think you should be president" and Kerry should have said (rightfully enough) "because I am the lesser of two evils!" and THAT would have made me go out and register to vote. For him, even! ahhaha.

Maybe it's time to write Jodie Foster som fan mail and ask her what she thinks.

I enjoy a good debate if the people are interesting enough. This was child's play though.
If you want hot sexy debate-goodness you watch something that has William F. Buckley. While he may be a conservative he is one smart mo-fo.
I watched him on Charlie Rose awhile ago (gah...I am admitting I watch Charlie Rose this is pathetic) and he said that if Bush loses it will be because of the war.
He just laid it right there.

Clinton is a great politican. He may not be a great person at times but this guy knows how to work the crowd, deal with people and do the job of leading. This is why he was hot shit as a president.
He knew how to do it.

Kerry I hope will be even more strong in the coming debates and just lay it on the line.
"Listen that fucker over there lied to you and I promise to try and not fuck everyone over and send a kid to die for a pointless reason."

I agree Clinton is a better guy than I thought he was. I was absolutely fearful of him based on the way he got in. After he was in, I was ok with it. And clever of him to find the only place near his office NOT bugged to get a good hummer. He did a good job,and I hate the 2 term limitation for that.

Kerry's got some good ammo. I just hope that he doesn't have a bad night like Bush did on the next, or an upcoming debate, or he'll get the same sorta shit that Bush is getting now. The "I toldja so!" crowd. I still say put anyone else in office for 4 years than Bush. His time is up!

It will be interesting to see... if bush happens to keep his job - how he'll take all the shit he's had this year and either bounce back from it and improve, or have a mob with flaming torches at the gates.
