It seems many in the land of LJ are having one craptastic time. From health issues to family issues. It makes me wish distance wasn't such an issue for some. I would have everyone over to drink tea and cry their hearts out if they wished.
Nothing like a good weepy session to let it out. Especially if it is followed by some tea/hot chocolate and maybe something to eat. Then naps for everyone because we are six.

A few things were accomplished with my Mother's visit today. We went and ordered the fabric for my wedding dress today and found some fantastic vintage netting for the hat my Mother is wearing for the wedding. She also showed me her outfit for the wedding. It is going to be cool. She won't be rocking a conservative pastel Mother of the Bride outfit thankyouverymuch. You will find my Mother easily at the wedding for she will have on a flowy silk outfit and coat (very post-Edwardian Grecian if you ask me), a velvet hat and a pair of posh Tony Lama cowboy boots. Plus expensive jewelry. Ask to see the diamond ring that puts Elizabeth Taylor to shame at times.
The silk for my wedding dress is so lovely and light. It has a faint yellow glow to it.
After that and a trip to a yarn shop so my Mother could grope things we went and ate garlic fries, burgers and lemonade. Then more yarn shops. I bought my Mother lunch and a pair of knitting needles. I am truly a grown up. I take the lady to lunch and buy presents.

Then it was back to the house for tea and lemon meringue pie. She made fun of the immediate tea offering because she is a snob. But we forgive. Then we discussed wedding things and made fun of me.

It was a nice afternoon. It was a fairly decent day. I was able to sleep in for once, I didn't have to work and I took care of some details. My shoes for the wedding also arrived this morning. They fit and they look nice. One more thing to check off the list.

I was telling my Mother about the lack of response from the cake people today and how I need to call them and tell them to get their shit together. I said I felt almost tempted to bake my own damn cake to spite them. "ANSWER ME DAMMIT! Or I will make my own damn cake. See how you like that!?!?!" I tend to get a bit stubborn on occasion and do things myself just to prove a point. I suspect it might not be the most sensible plan. But it is good to remember I can do these things.

Oy, I hear ya there.

Circa 3 months ago a friend says "Wow, all that stuff really sucks. But bad things happen in threes. So you're done for the year! Yay!"

Circa 1 month ago another friend says "Wow, all that stuff in the past month really sucks. But bad things happen in threes."

Umm . . . do bad things happen in nines? Can I hide until New Years?

Naps are wasted on 6 year olds. They don't need them. I want one! Darned American Puritan inspired work ethic. Italians take the afternoon off for lunch. We should too. Germans get 6 weeks of vacation a year, and use it. We should too.

Hrm, then again . . . naps are not wasted on the teachers of 6 year olds. Ahh, the dirty truth comes out. It's not the students that need the naps, it's the teachers that need the students to take the naps.

I think it is time for everyone to call it a day.

I agree. Everyone to their sleeping mats. Bring your teddy.

Hey! We watched Kate in that episode of "Extras". Hubba Hubba Hubba.

The part which tickled me the most was the scene with Marchant as Gervais' agent. Click, click, click.

Wasn't that the best?
Nothing better than a nun's costume and dirty talking. Hee!

Let's have that tea-pity-nap party. Sounds like a super good idea. Make your own cake. It will probably be better than any merangue atrocity that they come up with.
