I recently received an email from a complete stranger. Sometime ago I wrote a review of a restaurant Mr. Jenner and I ate at in Paris. (La Cordonnerie) A person read the review and wrote to tell me how the chef is a cousin of her husband. Claude & Yvette's has been in my husband's family for years. The grandparents of the cousins we were with started going there years and years ago, when Hugo was just a little boy. They had a picture of Hugo at the restaurant, when he was only about 8 years old. Every time they went to Paris, they ate there, and now they've passed the tradition on to their children and grandchildren. She told me how much it touched her to read the piece. I apparently captured the place quite well and she was glad that I appreciated the place so much.
I wrote a version of the review on LJ right here quite awhile ago.
What a genuine compliment to receive.
I still need to sit down and write reviews of some of the restaurants we ate at in Italy.

Kinda threw me.
