"My Years with Jerry Lee Lewis"

Tonight my friend meighan and I went on a little jaunt to the "Warehouse" where cheap cd's and dvds multiply like catholics after a CYO dance.
I perused the dvd's and found a fairly typical selection, there were a few things that caught my eye.
"Asses Illustrated",(I don't believe it is a Disney film)and many copies of CannonballRun II. Whenever I see that, I ask myself, "what insane bastard decided that needed to be on dvd???" some people spend their lives trying to discover "what truth is" "Is there a God" I wonder about Cannonball Run II. I also saw Say Anything. I was quite tempted to purchase that, but I reminded myself, "Dammit gennie you just dropped a ton on some dvds, restrain yourself you addict" (it was worse then that scene in Trainspotting when the guy is detoxing from heroin...okay maybe not that bad)
I had my fill of that and wandered over to cd's. I like looking at used cd's first because you can find some interesting things, like bad eighties movies soundtracks for only 4.99. Quite the deal! I believe there was a soundtrack for the film, "About last Night" Such a place. I noticed the music varied between the newest alternapop band of the week (something where the guys sounds kinda like the guys in blink-182, but twice the cliche, is such a thing is possible...okay I need to stop, I am turning into gennie: music bitch)
and country.
Country?!?!?!?! I then remember this is Silverdale and a navytown.
I glanced at compilation cd's. blah blah billboard stuff....saw some U2 cd's that looked intriguing and made a note of something to get in the near future. I looked at dancehall music with meighan for a bit. I liked a lot of the cover art, it was mid-60's popart with a late seventies porn edge to it. So imagine pseudo-asian girls with Vidal Sasson haircuts, sporting green/purple hair and nice C-cup tits and some pube hair that is more then a landing strip.
I have no idea if the music was anygood, but the art had my attention.
Meandered over towards discman stuff (mine finally died and went home to jesus recently) got an idea of prices, I shall keep shopping about. THEN after I thought I had exhausted the entire tour, there was stuff to listen to.
This is my favorite part. Though I wish there was a wider variety to listen to. What if I want to listen to some obscure shoddy band from DeerLodge Montana who's influences are Patti Smith, Astrud Gilberto, and the early work of ee cummings....instead I had topforty choices.
I listened to Mary J. Blige's, "Family Affair" a song I do like, especially when I am in the car with Nurit and Leslie and we are on our way to do some misbehaving. I do believe the appropriate classification for her song is "booty music" you feel like shakin' it a little and doing your, "ooooo I do got it goin' on" so I began dancing in the store. So I acquired a few odd looks, but I was enjoying myself. I think I did my best dancing to Pink's, "Get this party started" I like to think it as being an impromptu go-go dancer. I stopped when Meighan had made her purchase and we felt it was time to go to Barnes and Noble. (or as I pronounced it, Barness y Nobley...fancypancy spanish no?)
Barnes and Noble, Bright lights, calm music. Not quite a dentist office, but still, it makes me a bit edgy. We perused address books, for Meighan needed a new one, but she later decided she really didn't need the wonder-woman address book. (I think it would have been perfect for her) then magazines. This issue of People, was featuring 50 most beautiful people. Yes, if you are wondering I made the list again, for my quirky, yet classic looks ala Jane Russell and Ernest Borgnine.
Once magazines lost their lustre we wandered aimlessly like jews in the desert for forty years. Only there was no matza. (how depressing oy)we did see the most amazing boardgame it was scooby-doo clue. It was the most perfect thing for our friend Kurt. It combines two of his three greatest loves (the third being hot gay guys like himself)
we think it will be his birthday present. Because we love him so. Also getting him Ewan MacGregor would be expensive.
We left, not getting a thing and going home, listening to Loveline. My goodness there are alot of stupid people.
When I came home to check my mail, I got an advert from amazon, it had the funniest thing in it.
here it is and I quote,
Dear Amazon.com Customer,
As someone who has purchased offbeat female friendship DVDs, you might like
to know that "Walking and Talking" will be released on May 21, 2002, on
DVD.
it struck me as funny.
Then I watched Tom Waits on Letterman...he sounds like he is um...having a hard time passing something, when he sings.
(I am not sure if it is a bowel movement, or a kidney stone, but it seems kinda painful, from the way he sings)
tonights quote comes from my brother Mike (age 10) he was yelling at his pet chickens,
"GOD DAMMIT, quit humping your sister"
he said this loudly in the backyard so I am sure the neighbors heard.
