ekdogg created it.
My personal top five movie moments
5. Empire of the Sun -The boy singing the song for the kamikazes about to take off. It is so beautifully tragic and serene. Just a sweet moment in the midst of chaos. (plus the whole movie is thrilling to watch)
4.400 Blows -this meandering camera shot, where the teacher is taking the boys jogging through the streets and you watch as they each disappear and he never notices and then they all come back. One of those true moments you capture in life...if you just watch long enough.
3.Singing in the Rain -the pure sex of Cyd Charisse dancing with Gene Kelly. Watching that scene when I was a kid, gave me my first inklings of what sex was. She was truly the only dancing partner he had, that made you watch her as well as him. So much is said, without speaking, truly genius. The brillance of technicolour and one hell of an extension.
2.Some like it Hot -there are several, but the most significant are the scenes between jack lemmon and tony curtis..discussing after their dates, and jack lemmon announces he is engaged, the incredibly honest sadness you see in marilyn monroe's eyes when she sings, "through with love" and the very last line with Joe E. Brown, "Well, nobody's perfect"
and...my number one..(I happen to agree with eric on this one)
It's A Wonderful Life.
again so many poignant scenes.
I enjoy crying to that movie too often.

Date: 2002-06-01 04:19 am (UTC)knows who Joe E. Brown is anymore but his daughter is
my sister's kids' nanny.
also I thought I was the only one who liked EMPIRE OF THE SUN.
I'm not sure how many scens I can come up with but:
the scene in PARTING GLANCES where the one guy tells the other guy (Steve Buscemi)
he's in love with him, make me cry every time I see it
William Hurt thumping down the hall in ALteReD stateS (inspiring an MTV
ad in the 80's plus something else I can't remember right now)
the scene where again William Hurt and Marlee Matlin fuck during a fight
and he says that didn't help him at all and she says it
helped HER
can't think of anything else I love off hand, maybe later

Date: 2002-06-01 04:59 am (UTC)saying something about how henry sleeps and june
realizes they've slept together and kina flips out
scene in PARIs TEXAS where harry dean stanton gets nastassia kinski to turn off the light in
the stripper booth thing so she can see him (haven't
seen this in a log time and might not like the movie as
much anymore, stuff I thought was cool might seem sort
of creepy now that I'm older)
