Which Enemy of the Christian Church Are You?

A(nother) Robert and Tim Creation

I get kinda touchy on the subject of God sometimes. People give me crap that I happen to believe in God and even in Jesus. So I don't think it would be wise for anyone to make comments. If they know what's good for them.
"yay jesus"

It pegged me as an atheist.

Which is ever so wrong, actually.

If someone asks me for my religion, I usually say, I'm a christian. And I try to be one, but conciously NOT a catholic (which I am) or any other 'couleur'.

I stand with the ideas of christianity, nut forcably with the way 'gods representants on earth' handle them.

understandable. I am catholic too, so I am often told I am not a christian by protestants heh.
I don't always agree with the old men in red dresses in rome, but I do my best to be a good person, follow the tenets of the church and not miss mass.

Well, I guess that sorta fits... though I do have a distinct religious bent, if not exactly the sort that would be fastened to any one particular world faith. I'm more an amalgamation of concepts and faiths from around the world really. *shrugs*

As for people giving you crap about your faith, screw them. We all have a faith of one form or another, even if it's faith that there is nothing out there beyond a bag of cheese doodles and a 7-11 chili dog (which is really enough to beg for an end to consciousness really). You believe in Jesus? Cool. You're a Catholic who managed to stick to your faith and even practices, you've got my respect, as much as anyone who adheres to whatever faith they have. Maybe a bit more considering the tendency for Catholics to run from the Church like rats from a sinking ship (pardon the anology - but you know what I mean). But hey, despite being a loud, obnoxious blowhard, I'm pretty easy going on alot of things.

it isn't always fun, it is hard, and I still can't get it all right, but I figure I have my entire life to become a better catholic.

Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. It requires dedication and commitment and if it's somethign your truly want, in the end, it will be fulfilling.

I don't commit to much, except for that. I figure if I can stick to that, everything else will fall into place at some point.

I think it is a conscious, intellectual decision, not one of those emotional ones that a lot of fundamentalists go with.

Well, my personal opinion is that things should be a even mix of both. One extreme or another leads to problems in general. The pure intellectual decisiosn are just not as flashy as the emotional outbursts (quickly followed by demands for money before God kills them or firey explosions).

But I'm babbling now, aren't I?

Date: 2002-06-12 01:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com
I do agree that there is a need for both an emotional and an intellectual decision and truly you can't arrive at any sort of end without the other. Otherwise you just stay in limbo (no pun)

Sometimes it is nice to cry on the television about god, while asking for money, especially if you have big purple hair. It makes god seem like a broadway musical.

I always thoguht God was played by Nathan Lane. It would make heaven be a bit more entertaining to say the least. And we could have angels singing Hakuna Matada (or whatever those two dam words are).

It's better than freaking out and saying the cameramen are giant ants.

Date: 2002-06-12 01:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com
no no no no. God would be played by Patrick Stewart or Nell Carter.
Nathan lane would play the apostle paul and matthew broderick would be jesus.

We should get that old woman from Throw Momma From The Train. She could be the 'young Mary' in flashback scenes.

If we're going experimental, we're going all the way.
