The city eventually cooled down.

This evening I was on the ferry and the air off of the water, kept everything breezy, yet the second I set food on the pavement, I felt the heat. It rose up from the sidewalk, surrounding everything. I loved it. It was like being wrapped in a warm blanket. After walking quickly up the street, I felt sweat resting on my body. It just sort of stayed there. I stood around waiting for the bus, I listened to two guys with scruffy hair, discussing girls who looked much older then their actual jailbait ages. I spoke with an Indian who had spent most of his childhood in England, and then later on I saw a slightly eratic, manic gentleman, who had a cane, a disheveled look to him, carrying a cheap, plastic urn with the letters RIP on the side. It seems he was carrying someone close to him at all times. I looked around on the bus, and realized I was the whitest looking person there. Everyone else was black, hispanic (both of which I happen to be) and Indian. I just had the lightest skin. It makes me think of when I take the bus into south/west seattle and I am the only person on the bus who's first language is English. The closer we got to my stop, the cooler it became. It helps that wasn't as much concrete and skyscrapers to hold the heat in.

Tonight I had the pleasure of catching a set at The Deep Down Lounge. It was so amazing. Both style and substance. It was like, having shepards pie and creme brulee. It wasn't too large, so it had a lovely intimate feel, much like a party, that someone is privy to. Plush couches and tables, a decent sized dance floor, good drinks. The eclectic mix of people kept me interested. It wasn't just one particular "sub-genre" of people. It was culturally/racially diverse, the music kicked ass. Of course I am a bit biased, since it was a friend spinning. The real appeal is there wasn't the classic top forty fare you are subjected to in most clubs.
I have come home to jesus, because they don't play YMCA.
I don't have to listen to annoying lyrics, "one more time....we're gonna celebrate" It was smart, clever, and was lacking in pretension.
Terribly nice people.
