Yesterday I met up with a friend for coffee and hilarious conversation. Then my Mother and a friend and my brother came over for dinner. I admit I felt like death warmed over the entire time but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves so it was all right.

I have been with my husband for a number of years and despite both being English-speaking people; occasionally we still find ourselves educating each other about how to pronounce various words from our respective cultures. It is a cheap form of entertainment. "what did you just say? No you say it like this..." (the first time I went to England with him there were quite a few words he explained to me.) Tonight it was the word coyote. Obviously he wouldn't be entirely familiar with them because they don't exist in the UK and he didn't grow up with a fair amount of native american lore which seemed to be common when I was going to school. Though living in the northwest much of the Native lore I heard had to do with salmon, raven, (a trickster character much like coyote) eagle, whale and bear. I had picked up some picture book at the library for Senor Onion that was about some southwestern native story. The illustrations are pretty dandy.
But hey Mr. Jenner grew up with King Arthur and what not so hopefully the kids will have a varied experience to folk stories. Holy Grail and Pecos Bill!
Anyhow... it seems Nigella has another book coming out. (something to add to the wish list)
