It has been raining today. It continues to rain. (we are in the midst of a pineapple express)
So what do I do?
I make candy.

These are the chocolate truffles. I think they will taste good...
I then made the custard base for Christmas cake ice cream.
I accomplished a few other things today. I mailed off some packages, helped my son wallpaper another room of his dollhouse and generally entertained everyone. I was not feeling inspired when it came to dinner so we went out to the local alehouse up the hill. The kids played with toys by the fire, (along with other kids) I chatted a bit with Mr. Jenner while looking at some section of the NY Times. It was all very civilized. Then we had burgers and the family shared a brownie sundae. We made our way back to the car (as it was pouring down) and then took a round-a-bout route home so we could see some fun light displays. Viewing light displays in whilst driving in the rain is a Northwest tradition. The rain makes the lights even prettier. This is a fact. Look it up. Then home to bed for small people.

Date: 2010-12-12 03:18 pm (UTC)Pretty much we are hit with heavy rain that leads to some flooding. (which is a problem in my neighborhood due to drainage) We are in the midst of an El Nino winter so we are getting more rain and snow. A real bother to put up with in the winter BUT the upside is that we will have enough water in our reservoirs that drought won't be an issue in the Summer.
We are weather nerds in this part of the world.

Date: 2010-12-12 03:21 pm (UTC)You can read the answer I gave above.
People in this part of the world pay such close attention to the weather and nerd it up about it. Yesterday morning when it was still dry and everyone knew the storm was coming, my husband went out on his bike ride and he said that there were A LOT of people out getting their exercise. (running, biking and what have you) They knew they had to get it in before the rain set in.
This (http://community.livejournal.com/seattle/6390149.html) Seattle post pretty much sums up things. "We're gonna get a big ol' dicking of rain this weekend!"

And dammit. You get all the cool people. First the queen, now Franco and Rogen? *sigh*
Here, we have a metric fuckton of snow. And it's cold so getting the kid outside to play will be...interesting.
