observing humanity growing.
Jun. 4th, 2009 09:31 pmMy kid sleeps past 7am but I was awake at 6am. This is cruel. It was already too warm at six am, Baby Biscuit was kicking me and I was having strange dreams. I laid in bed awhile before getting up. It was a bit pleasant having the time to myself for a teeny bit this morning.
I went and took care of some grocery shopping. Later on Senor Onion and I went to the library. We had a sort of discussion on the drive home about the places you can buy bread and I mentioned bakeries (as you can see we have deep deep conversations) and he wanted to go to the bakery in Madison Park that sells yellow happy face cooks. (He calls them. "Lellow Mr. Happy Cookies" as they do look like Mr. Men. His Ys aren't strong when quickly followed by Ls.) So we took a detour to the bakery, had a nice walk, he pointed out the orange cat cookies and asked about the cupcakes. He was pleased as punch to have a Mr. Happy cookie with his lunch. It is nice that such joys can be had like that. Once a month a trip for Mr. Happy cookies!
I tried to hide from the heat for awhile. Futile.
We went out and transplanted the last of the tomato plants that I grew from seeds. They look great. We planted some peas, watered the heck out of things and then went back inside to hide from the heat.
There was a bit of a language/vocabulary break-though with Senor Onion at dinner. He has a phrase for, "I don't know/What is that?" (it works for both) It is "demi-gah". He has used it for a long time. It is his phrase and we know it rather well and sometimes it takes a moment to figure out what he is trying to understand. Mr. Jenner asked him what he did at the library today and he responded, "Demi-gah". Then suddenly he said, "I don't know." (once we asked specific questions about what he had done, he was able to answer) It was kind of significant. I will be a little sad when he sets aside demi-gah forever as it is so tied to his personality. He wants to know what everything is and demi-gah is VERY much a part of the day to day with him. Still the uttering of, "I don't know" was so grown-up and surprising.
My other excitement was Gourmet and Saveur showing up today. Yippee. My life is all thrills.
